Zoo Internships
The Internship Program at Lincoln Park Zoo provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills to hands-on experience. Participation in an internship program fosters skills in public speaking, communication, research, negotiations, problem-solving and critical thinking. Interns observe and assist staff in the zoo’s daily operation, gradually assuming more responsibility and achieving entry-level competency by the end of the internship.

Most zoo internships are unpaid, however, some departments may have funding to provide a nominal stipend. The length of an internship will vary by the participating department or by specific school requirements. Unless otherwise noted, most internships will be between 10 and 12 weeks in length. Lincoln Park Zoo does not provide housing for interns. It is the responsibility of the intern to arrange and pay for housing and all other associated costs of living in Chicago for the duration of the internship.

Zoo internships offer opportunities to engage individuals interested in pursuing a career in many areas.
