Established in 1868 with a gift of two swans from New York City’s Central Park, Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the most modern institutions in the country, featuring advanced veterinary care, groundbreaking exhibits and wide-ranging conservation and science programs.
The meerkats at Regenstein African Journey are one of many species that help visitors forge a closer connection with nature.
The Farm-in-the-Zoo Presented by John Deere brings the country in the city, offering cow-milking demonstrations, opportunities to greet the goats and the chance to help with the harvest at the sustainable crop garden.
Chimpanzee and gorillas make their homes in the naturalistic settings of Regenstein Center for African Apes. Scientists at the Lester E. Fisher Center for the Study and Conservation of Apes study the apes’ social groups and cognitive skills, using their research to help conserve these endangered species.
Located in the heart of Chicago, Lincoln Park Zoo provides a green oasis in the shadow of skyscrapers. More than 800 animals can be found on zoo grounds, providing countless opportunities for education and excitement.
Silverback gorilla Kwan leads his groups at Regenstein Center for African Apes, mirroring the gorilla social setting of the wild. Lincoln Park Zoo has long been a leader in preserving this endangered species.
