Software Programmer
Edward Wilkerson Jr. received a B.A from the University of Chicago. He has compiled more than 15 years of experience developing and maintaining software systems, predominately in the insurance industry. As the software programmer in the Davee Center for Epidemiology and Endocrinology, his main focus is developing software for the Avian Influenza Surveillance System. This system will be used to enter data from the sampling and testing of birds in Association of Zoos and Aquariums institutions throughout the United States. The web-based system will aid officials in monitoring for the presence of avian influenza. Wilkerson has also helped to create and advise web-based data collection systems used in chimpanzee-health and mother-infant research at Gombe National Park, Tanzania.
